Hi, I'm Kitty. I am so glad you decided to visit and see some of my miniature creations. I'm pretty proud of my collection and happy I can share it with you! Thanks to my American friend, Chris, for designing my webpages and hosting my collection on her website. Stop and see her collection, too, at The Verstraete Miniatures Gallery.--------- To tell you about myself: I first got interested in dollhouses and miniatures in 1994. I started making some rooms for my daughters using cardboard and inexpensive, throw-away materials. Then, I bought my first miniatures magazine! From that moment on, I was infected by the "mini-virus" and I knew I wanted a dollhouse! ![]() ![]() With my husband's help, we designed, built and decorated the first project, a Victorian house. That was just the start, of course. Now, eight years later, I have a collection of houses, shops, roomboxes and small projects. My favorite part of the hobby is assembling doll kits. The part I hate? Yes, there is one, even in a hobby I enjoy so much! (Shh! I don't like to sand and paint.) I'm a member of a Dutch dollhouse email group, De Waterlandmini-Groep. I also have fun attending a monthly dollhouse group near my home. We meet in one of the member's homes and laugh, talk and sometimes even get a project done! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to sign my GUESTBOOK! Start your tour of my collection here in my "mini halls." (See photos below). ![]() ![]()
In my Victorian house, rooms and halls are more formal with stained woods and darker colors in keeping with the time period. The room is still comfortable enough to inspire two little girls to play "house." In contrast, the more modern hall is decorated in brighter, pastel colors. Watch your step - the dog has claimed the rug as his! Make sure you visit my other rooms and houses. Photos (c) 2002/03 K. Balke. NO copying/reposting/reprinting w/out permission.
